Veteran Mental Health Awareness PTSD 3D Embroideryed Baseball Cap
Awareness merchandise usually asks a stranger to read something. A cap asks less than that: it gets noticed by the people who already know what the ribbon means, and it gets asked about by the ones who do not. For a subject most veterans would rather not open with, that is a useful way round.
Why a Cap Rather Than a Slogan Shirt

Post-traumatic stress does not announce itself, and neither do most of the people carrying it. A cap sits at the quiet end of awareness apparel — visible in a queue or across a car park, but not a placard. It travels into ordinary places where the subject rarely comes up: the hardware store, the school gate, a waiting room.
Raised Embroidery

The front is 3D embroidery — stitched over a raised foam base so the lettering stands proud of the panel rather than lying flat on it. That is what catches light from an angle, and it is why the design survives a cap being folded into a jacket pocket for a year. A printed panel would have cracked at the first crease.
The crown is structured and holds its shape from the first wear, with stitched panel seams, ventilation eyelets and a pre-curved brim. One size, with an adjustable strap at the back that covers most adult heads.
Wearing It

Everyday wear is the point — this is not a parade item. It also works as something to give: a cap is easier to hand to a veteran than a card, and it says the thing without either of you having to.

Keeping the Stitching Sharp
Hand wash gently in cool water and keep it out of the machine — a cycle frays raised stitching at the edges and knocks the crown out of shape. Avoid long soaking for the same reason. Reshape it while damp over something round and dry it away from direct heat.
Questions Buyers Ask
What is 3D embroidery?
Stitching worked over a raised foam base so the design stands off the fabric. It is more durable than print and it holds its definition after years of wear.
Does the raised front feel bulky against the head?
No. The foam and stitching sit on the outer face with a backing layer behind, so what touches your forehead is the same fabric as the rest of the crown.
Can it go in the washing machine?
Better not. Hand washing is what keeps the embroidery crisp and the crown structured; a machine cycle costs you both.
Will one size fit most people?
The rear strap adjusts across most adult head sizes and changes quickly, so it also works if the cap gets shared.
